My oldest absolutely loves giving gifts to anyone, but particular his preschool teachers! While we certainly focus our attention on Christmas and end-of-year, I like to send him to school with little holiday treats in an attempt to bring a smile to his teacher's face whenever possible.

We are loving this simple EOS Valentine's Day concept, "A Cupcake for My Teacher"! Next time you are at Target, or your favorite retailer, simply pick up a few red EOS packages, and attach with double sided tape or glue dots to our design printed on bright white card stock.

These Valentine's Day EOS teacher gift tags are also available personalized in our store for a nominal fee. Be sure to also shop our entire collection of Valentine's Day exchange cards!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

#Deepa1975- Deepa's 40th Birthday Bash

Modern. Elegant. Unique. Personalized.

These are the words I would use to describe Deepa's 40th birthday party held at RDG Bar Annie in Houston this past November.

When Deepa & Tom first approached me about this event, their primary requests included creating a "wow factor" with "unique" touches including entertainment, and they were most interested in securing a venue with a fun vibe, entertainment outside of the ordinary, a vegetarian menu option for Deepa (beyond a veggie platter) and stunning decor.

And so began the planning.

Venue: RDG Bar Annie was selected for the ambiance, menu selection and willingness to accommodate a personalized vegetarian option for Deepa and amazing service.

Decor: After some consideration, we landed on the purple color palette, choosing to focus on variations of a single color to provide visual depth for the event. Ghost chairs & glass beaded charges with silver accents were provided by A Finer Event and linens & brooches for the napkins were provided by House of Hough. Centerpieces were simple- height variations of mirrored glass vases filled with all white flowers for a modern look and feel. Table numbers with descriptions of some of Deepa's former residences were used at the tables as talking points of some of her life's journey thus far along with coordinating guest place cards for personalization. And upon entering RDG Bar Annie, guests were greeted and encouraged to leave notes on Deepa's enlarged #Deepa1975 poster.

The CAKE: Deepa's birthday cake was modern and elegant, incorporating bands of purple and silver along with a glitter "forty" topper.

Favors: Each couple took home mini champagne bottles with #Deepa1975 favor tags and coordinating ribbon.

Entertainment: To keep the guests on their toes and for some added humor, a stunning ice luge was brought in by Ice Occasions to serve a signature vodka drink during the event. And to serve as both entertainment during the event and a keepsake for the birthday girl, Houston acclaimed artist Edgar Medina live painted a custom piece for their newly renovated home from start to finish.

All in all, it was a night to remember for Deepa and her guests. We hope you find inspiration in some of our styling selections.

Boxing Day Winter Wonderland Party

12/29/2015

Well, we finally did it and moved to the 'burbs....which means starting over in a number of ways for our family. To jump start forming new friendships in our new area, we decided last minute to host a casual 'Boxing Day' party in honor of the day my Canadian husband celebrated when back at home after Christmas on the 26th.

For sweet treats, we kept things whimsical and fun. Our table centerpiece was a DIY donut hole tree I crafted that morning. To either side was an assortment of simple vanilla cupcakes with crushed candy cane topping. Sitting tall were some amazing polar bear cake ball pops sitting on top of 'snow'. And last but not least, my all time favorite winter treat.....penguin cake balls sitting in 'snow' aka powdered sugar.

The HIT of the party was the artificial snow station! 80 gallons of man made snow filled a children's pool filled with sand box toys. As you can see, fun was had by all!

DIY Guest Post- Keenen's Terrific Tool First Birthday Party

11/17/2015

eKeenan's mom had a specific vision in mind for her son Keenan's 1st birthday party....tools....not construction. So, we jumped in at the last minute to assist her with styling and bringing her ideas and concepts to life.  For this particular party, we jumped in at the last moment, analyzed the items his mommy had purchased, reviewed her budget, concept, venue and overall ideas and then worked to pull everything together in a simple design plan. We offered suggestions such as adding the peg board backdrop, printable designs, item placement, activity ideas and overall placement of decor items the day of the party.

Some of our favorite details to note include:

-Peg board "tool" backdrop adorned with tool theme paper banners and inflatable tools
-The fun toolbox cake made by a family friend
-The "saw" cake knife
-Simple, modern children's table with tool aprons tied to each chair
-The fun "hammer" station activity

DIY Apple Butter Thanksgiving Hostess Gifts

11/16/2015

Picture
Give thanks this Thanksgiving to friends, family, neighbors, co-workers and teachers!

This easy apple butter recipe is the perfect homemade gift when packaged in small canning or mason jars and our "Homemade From Us" tags.

Apple butter is a great Fall treat, spreadable on a variety of baked goods.

For the recipe:

Ingredients: 3 pounds crisp and sweet apples, such as Gala, Honeycrisp, and Braeburn, peeled (about 8 apples)
1 cup apple cider
1 1/2 cups sugar, divided
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

Preparation:

1. Cut apples into 1-inch pieces. Bring apples, cider, and 1/2 cup sugar to a rolling boil in a Dutch oven over high heat. Cover, leaving lid slightly ajar, and boil 20 minutes or until apples are tender and most of the liquid has evaporated; stir every 5 minutes.
2. Process cooked apples and cooking liquid in a blender until smooth. Return mixture to Dutch oven. Stir in cinnamon, cloves, and remaining 1 cup sugar. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to low, and simmer, uncovered and stirring often, 15 minutes or until thickened. Cool about 45 minutes. Spoon into airtight containers, and refrigerate up to 2 months or freeze up to 6 months.
