Stocking the Bar- Must Have Staples for an Amazing Event

12/29/2014

One of the hardest things to plan for when organizing a cocktail party or celebration..... is the bar.

How much will everyone drink?

What if I don't have enough of something?

What will the guests' drink preferences be (i.e. wine, champagne, beer, liquor)?

In my opinion, it is always better to over-prepare! And, most bar staples keep, so if you don't use something, it will keep for the next event.

Here are some must haves for a party of 10-20 adults:

-1 bottle each of vodka, gin, and bourbon or scotch
-4 bottles each of red and white wine
-3, 6 packs of beer (assorted)
-2, 2 liter bottles of seltzer
-2, 2 liter bottles of tonic
-1 large bottle of orange juice
-1 large bottle of cranberry juice
-1, 2 liter bottle of regular cola
-1, 2 liter bottle of diet cola
-1, 2 liter bottle of ginger ale
-3 lemons and 3 limes (sliced)
-2 bags, or 10 lbs of ice)

In addition to the beverages and mixers, you will also need a bottle opener, corkscrew, martini shaker, measuring glass/shot glass, mixing sticks or cocktail straws, a small bar cutting board, and cocktail napkins. If you are new to the bar or mixing drinks, a simple bar cocktail guide may also be something to grab before your event as recipes or ratios for common cocktails will be provided.

To help keep everyone's glasses straight, consider wine charms or my new favorite party item, special markers that allow you to write a guest's name onto the glasses themselves (it washes off).

While we certainly specialize in creating over the top, cohesive party designs and plans together for our personal and corporate clients, we also enjoy helping our customers put together party looks that don't break the bank, and that are easy to replicate the following year should the family choose not to hire a stylist. This sweet Paw Patrol request was from Sidney, a 5 year old twin celebrating her birthday during the holiday season at a local gymnastics facility.

With less than 1 week to plan, a 15 minute venue setup allotment and a dessert/snack only party, here are some of the ideas that we were able to come up with:

-Personalized party printable decor (Crowning Details)
-Personalized grocery store cake ($26)
-Paw print cake ball pops (Angie's Cake)
-FREE printable Pup-corn containers from Nick Jr. online
-Paw print balloons (Birthday Express)
-Books for favors (always a great alternative to snacks or sweets!)

So, we are going to definitely play up Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for our little ones for the first time. Christmas cookies and milk will be out for Santa, Reindeer Food will be sprinkled on the lawn and when they wake up Christmas morning, they will find reindeer footprints stamped on the lawn and cookie crumbs on Santa's plate.

Hopefully they will get a kick out of the effort!

Are you an Elf on the Shelf family!?

I have to admit that we have one....although since our oldest is only 3, I have yet to venture into taking it out of the box. Maybe next year!

Nevertheless, the Elf makes his appearance in millions of homes each holiday season.

These fun little gifts were inspired by the Elf. "Elf Kisses for You" is a simple treat to create using virtually any container, Hershey's Kisses and our gift tag. We love these gumball tubes as they create height and are the perfect diameter for these candies.

Whether your "Elf Kisses for You" treats are for your child's classmates, teachers, neighbors, from your Elf himself/herself or from Santa, they are sure to delight!

To order your personalized "Elf Kisses for You" gift tag, be sure to hop on over to our etsy store.

Wine or champagne are among the most common hostess gifts to bring to events throughout the Christmas and New Year's Season!

If you are like me, I never seem to have enough gift bags!? I am not sure where they end up, but I never seem to have them when I need them. I do however, always seem to have an abundance of holiday wrapping paper, or scraps thereof.

This simple gift wrap concept gives you a creative way to wrap wine or champagne bottles using your extra gift wrap! Simple trim to fit over the label and use double sided tape to attach. Add a festive gift tag to the top (we chose raffia) and you are all set!
