7/26/2014

Little Elliott’s mom requested a modern, classic little hipster man theme for her youngest son’s 1st birthday party! We had so much fun playing with colors, patterns and textures when creating this bright design package. We hope you love his sweet party as much as we loved creating it!

Some details to look for include:
-Bow tie bar for guests upon entering the party
-Mustache theme desserts- simple modern cake, cake pops and coordinating cookie set
-Fun mustache and little man theme party activities
-“Wet your Whiskers” beverage bar

Party Activities
The party games for this sweet party were adorable! A newspaper wrapped mustache theme bean bag toss, ping pong ball toss into mint julep cups, Pin-the-Stache poster game, ring toss onto old fashioned bottles and a mustache chair photo booth area built for tiny tots (cute props included).

Party Favors
Each party guest took a sweet handmade mustache and tie theme gift bag home full with a personalized bubble container and wand.

Make it Monday: Dressed up Grocery Store Princess Cakes

I LOVE cakes! And, so do my children! I find it so easy to locate amazing cakes on Pinterest, only to be shocked once I find out how much it costs to have them recreated by local bakeries. In many cases, you can create your own one-of-a-kind party cakes using grocery store cakes as a base.

I recently had the pleasure of styling 2 different princess parties, both of which who used my cake idea in a slightly different way.

To create these simple cakes, start with an 8-10" textured white cake from any grocery store. Both cakes used a textured, vertical ribbon design in buttercream frosting. For the topper, simple tiaras were used. My favorite sources for tiaras include Target, Dollar Tree, Oriental Trading and Birthday Express. Generally speaking, you can purchase a tiara for under $4. To finish the cake, simply wrap the base with 1 1/2-2 inch grosgrain ribbon and secure it using a straight pin in the back (just remember to remove when serving :)).  For an added touch, lay a princess wand in front of the cake made from the same material as the topper.

To recreate a cake like this, expect to spend about $30.

Jameson's Vintage Airplanes 2nd Birthday Party

7/4/2014

Jameson’s 2nd birthday party theme took flight!! We loved working on this party theme, bringing in modern printable designs alongside vintage airplane collectable pieces, such as the airplane hanging from the chandelier and the one-of-a-kind globe accent piece on the main table.

Some details to look for include:
-Propeller cake ball pops
-Adorable buttercream cloud cake with a paper airplane topper
-Vintage airplane hanging from the chandelier
-“In Flight” Service silverware packets
-Personalized airplane signage and printables

Main Dessert Table
We focused on marrying classic airplane nostalgia with whimsical items when putting this table together. Luckily, Jameson’s mama had a few great pieces to build the table design around, including the fun vintage airplane hanging from the chandelier and the unique globe piece. To keep things clean and modern, we forewent table linens and opted for a simple gift wrap runner in red to add a pop of needed color to the room. To one side, the airplane inspired sweet treats were displayed; cupcakes, buttercream sky cake with a paper airplane topper and propeller cake ball pops. Snacks were neatly displayed throughout the center portion of the table; silverware packets labelled “in-flight snacks” were available for each guest. And at the opposite side of the table were the favors; blue bath squirty planes individually wrapped with labels reading, “Thanks for Flying By!”

Bubble Extravaganza 1st Birthday Party

7/3/2014

Bubbles are such a popular theme for young kiddos! After all, what toddler doesn’t love bubbles!? These adorable twins celebrated their 1st birthday surrounded by family, friends & loads of bubble themed party decorations. It was such a joy to plan and we hope that you enjoy the photos!

Some details to look for include:
-Bubble theme party printables
-Bubble theme smash cakes for each of the twins
-Bubble themed activities: bubble wands, bubble machines and a bubble inspired ball pit

Main Dessert Table
The centerpieces to this fun bubble themed table included the tower of cupcakes with personalized toppers and the adorable bubble theme smash cakes for each of the twins. To satisfy snacking cravings, we served a variety of breakfast items, including mini muffins, mini donut holes, blueberries, grapes and bright blue jello cups. To pull the concept and color scheme together, we used blue and white gift wrap as a table runner, a bubble theme banner and 2 balloon bouquets which anchored the ends of the table.

Children’s Tables
We kept these tables clean and modern in design, using navy linens and orange personalized paper placemats. On each of the tables were crayons to keep tiny hands busy and buckets of bubble wands.

Party Activities
The party’s hit was definitely the pool, particularly in the Houston heat! But, guests also enjoyed bubble wands, bubble machines, and the bubble ball pool for the tiniest guests.

Party Favors
In keeping with the party theme, each guest went home with personalized bubbles and a sweet favor tag reading, “Thanks for Popping By Our Party!”
