Friday's Freebie- Oscar's Popcorn Box Templates & DIY Popcorn Bar Tutorial

Popcorn and the Oscars….yes, please!

Whether you are hosting an Oscar’s party for friends and family, or for yourself.....what better way to celebrate than with a variety of festive popcorn options!?

What you’ll need:
·         A cute “Popcorn Bar” sign…consider using a traditional wooden framed chalkboard
·         Cute popcorn topping containers! Here are two of my favorite options:
o   Cupcake wrappers (love the Simply Baked brand)
o   Paper cones (be sure to add our FREE bowtie download as an accent to your paper snack cones)
o   Our FREE printable popcorn box!! (Download the template below)

·         Small serving spoons for each topping option
·         Food labels so guests can easily identify available options
·         Our Oscar’s popcorn boxes for guests to create-their-own blend
·         Napkins, water and definitely cocktails!

At a minimum, you will want to offer three varieties of popcorn; plain, seasoned and flavored.

For the flavored popcorn options, consider the following:
  • Caramel Apple
  • Fluffernutter Caramel….this is for my sitter, who is a fluffernutter fanatic!
  • Party Popcorn
  • Cinnamon Spice
  • BBQ (for my fellow Texans!)

In addition to the three basic popcorn varietals, offer several topping choices to spice up the plain option. Consider melted butter, a selection of salts (i.e. sea salt, truffle salt, black sea salt), powdered cheeses, and popular movie theater candies (i.e. M&Ms, peanut butter cups, gummy bears).

Enjoy!

St Patrick's Day is just around the corner (March 17th).

Have a little fun with the kitchy holiday phrase, "Kiss Me I'm Irish" and give out 'kisses' in celebration of the holiday to friends, neighbors and classmates.

For this simple favor idea, we used 2" clear favor boxes, black and white baking twine, green Hershey's kisses and our "Happy St Patrick's Day" tag.

Stay tuned for more St Patrick's Day ideas! And, be sure to Follow us on Pinterest (www.pinterest.com/crowningdetails) and to Like us on Facebook www.facebook.com/crowningdetails) for all of our styling ideas and photos.

Today's Make-it-Monday project is a simple St Patrick's Day teacher or hostess gift idea.

You will need:
-Gold paper cups or Solo brand cups
-Shamrock die cuts or foam pieces (I got mine this year from the local Dollar Store)
-Glue or glue dots
-Clear cellophane bags
-Twining Irish Breakfast individual Tea Bags
-White curly ribbon
-Happy St Patrick's Day gift tag

To make these cute gifts, simply glue shamrocks onto the cups and allow to dry. Fill a clear cellophane bag with 5-7 individually wrapped Irish Breakfast tea pouches. Tie the bag with white (or black) curly ribbon and attach your Happy St Patrick's Day gift tag.

Not only are these gifts simply to construct, they are affordable options for teachers, friends and neighbors this St Patrick's Day holiday season!

Enjoy!

Be sure to stay tuned for more St Patrick's Day ideas.....coming soon!

Capture the Right Valentine Sentiment with your Flower Selection

2/12/2014

What does your favorite Valentine’s Day flower color say about you? And, what sentiment is your choice conveying to the one lucky enough to receive them?

The most popular flower color during the Valentine’s season is red, with pink a close follow-up. But, there are so many flower varieties and color options available; how are we to be sure that the one we select captures our holiday sentiment?

Here are the most popular meanings/sentiments behind the most commonly selected Valentine’s Day flowers:

·         Red- Red is a universal symbol of romantic love around the world. On Valentine’s Day, long stem red roses are considered an expression of undying love.

·         Pink- Pink, a more subtle variation of its red cousin, is the perfect choice for someone you admire. Pink flowers, roses in particular, are often given to those we admire or hold in high esteem.

·         Yellow- Yellow roses often get labeled as the ‘friend’ flowers. However, they are often selected to give to people who bring joy into our lives; our lifelong friends or child’s teachers.

·         Orange- Orange flowers represent strong feelings of passion and excitement. SO, if you aren’t feeling that in your relationship, you may want to steer clear of this color selection.

·         Lavender- Carrying with it a sense of distinction, lavender flowers often carry the message of ‘enduring love’ or ‘love at first sight’ when given on Valentine’s Day. If your relationship feels like a fairy tale, then this is your flower color of choice.

Enjoy this Valentine’s Day Season!

XOXO

Make-it-Monday: Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes

2/10/2014

In celebration of Valentine's Day this week, I thought I would share a simple twist on the traditional, ever-popular cupcake which uses ice cream cone shells instead of traditional liners or baking cups.

You will need:
-Ice cream cone shells with FLAT bottoms
-Cupcake mix or a from-scratch recipe
-Butter cream icing
-Icing piping bag and/or decorating tools
-Toppings (sanding sugar shown in pink and red)

To make these simple cupcakes, preheat your oven to 350 degrees and prepare the batter as directed. Line a baking sheet or muffin tin with ice cream cone shells. Fill each shell 2/3 full with your prepared batter. Bake for 17-19 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Allow your cupcakes to cool before icing and decorating.

These are super fun for Valentine's Day, classroom celebrations, or birthday parties and can be decorated for any color scheme or theme using colored sprinkles or sanding sugars.

Charlotte's Baptism

2/9/2014

This beautiful little girl is the daughter or our family's friends and today was her special baptism celebration. Her mother did an amazing job choosing the soft pink and white color palette for the event. One of the key decor items was the prayer card tree which included personalized cards for guests to note prayers or their favorite verses for baby Charlotte to have as keepsakes.
