Setting the Table
Whenever designing a tablescape, I opt for simple, yet pulled together components for the given theme. For our base linen, we chose this bold green and white gingham pattern. For a more affordable and disposable option, consider this plastic green and white gingham table covering.
Each guest was provided a flight of beers to taste, displayed atop a simple raw wood paddle we sourced from our local craft store. We selected a light, medium and dark beer for a simple tasting, but you could certainly add 2-3 more options for a full tasting using the FREE printable below as a shopping guide.
Our centerpieces were simple dark metal containers filled with varying heights of a wheat grass, providing a bit of elegance to the tablescape, while giving a nod to beer theme.
Selecting Beers & Glassware
When selecting beers for your tasting, you could go simply light to dark, work within a given theme such as “Fall”, or offer a selection from local microbreweries; select 3-5 beers for sufficient variety. Don’t fret if you don’t have enough glassware for a full tasting! Our favorite glassware for any kind of party is from our friends over at Tossware. I simply love the selection and that I can simply toss and recycle following the event; I mean, who doesn’t love easy post-party clean up?
Serving Tip: Beers should be served chilled, so keep them refrigerated or on ice until you are ready to serve.
As you work through each beer selection, engage in discussion with your party guests with our simple printable cards. Encourage note taking for each pour so that you can discuss after each round. Will everyone have the same favorite?
