This colorful salmon crostini recipe is a crowd pleaser!! Keep scrolling for some ingredient tips and the printable recipe card.
It has been said that we often eat with our eyes. In fact, the way that a dish looks can often alter the way it tastes. I have always found edible flowers intriguing, so I jumped at the opportunity to include them in this summer crostini recipe. They’re fresh, they’re vibrant, and they seem full of life. With so many colors available to choose from, recipe combinations are endless!
We incorporated pink and purple edible flowers as a garnish on these smoked salmon crostini, using toasted English muffins as the perfect toasted foundation. Keep scrolling for more photos and the complete recipe.
Smoked Salmon & Fresh Dill
A classic breakfast flavor combination you may be familiar with is smoked salmon and dill. Our smoked salmon crostini recipe plays homage to this popular dish, but elevates it for an any-time crostini appetizer. Smoked salmon can be found in the refrigerated section of your local Walmart, typically near the seafood or meat section. Fresh dill can be found alongside other popular fresh herbs in Walmart’s produce section.
Micro Greens
How amazing is the coloring of this bunch of micro-greens?!? Micro greens are young vegetables, offering an aromatic flavor and concentrated nutrient profile. They are available in a variety of colors and textures, and can typically be found in natural food markets in the produce department, or through online specialty grocers.
Add Color with Edible Flowers
Edible flowers are not only colorful, they offer a unique flavor profile when incorporated into recipes. (Plus, they’re pretty!) Some of the most commonly used edible flowers include lavender, roses, daisies and violets. The pink and purple flowers were added to this salmon crostini dish are called Dianthus. You can find edible flowers in the specialty produce section of many grocers, or via online growers that offer direct home shipping options. Our edible flowers were sent via overnight delivery in a cooler.

We just love the Nooks and Crannies found in Thomas’ English muffins! They are perfect for the whipped cream cheese to hide within, making each bite the creamiest possible. And, I love that these English muffins are available in both original and whole wheat options. For this salmon crostini recipe, we opted for the whole wheat muffins, but in our summer vegetable crostini recipe, we featured the original Nooks and Crannies for variety.
