Are you planning a winter baby shower with for someone with a little snowflake on the way? For our winter baby shower theme, we married several of our favorite iconic images into a cohesive shower theme that could be tweaked for either gender, twins or a neutral color palette. Keep reading for some of our favorite, simple ideas for hosting a winter baby shower.
Winter Baby Shower Decorations
The focal point of our snack and beverage table was the distressed wooden backdrop with a feature antler silhouette. To add softness to our tablescape, we choose a fitted white floor-length linen. For a touch of sparkle and added color, a tissue paper garland was draped across the table’s front using straight pins at either end.
A few small touches can be added to seated guests tables, elevating the overall look while sticking to a budget. For example, we layered white paper plate chargers with silver dinner plates for a more visual interest at each place setting. For a touch of formality (but you could easily swap out for paper dinner napkins), we added white linen napkins to the top of each place setting. Then, for our favorite bit of personalization on the table, we added simple script place cards atop silver snowflake ornaments. Ornaments make an ideal placecard holder option for winter baby showers, as they can double as a party favor for guests.
Winter Baby Shower Dessert & Beverage Ideas
We offered our winter baby shower guests and assortment of winter white sweets, including a buttercream cake, cupcakes, powdered donut holes, yogurt covered pretzels and yogurt covered raisins. Our buttercream cake was topped with a single, over-sized silver snowflake. And, to dress up store bought cupcakes, we added snowflake toppers.
For a winter baby shower, set up a “Baby It’s Cold Outside” hot cocoa bar, complete with festive toppings. To keep your hot cocoa warm, consider serving in an insulated carafe. For topping options, choose a variety from peppermint sticks, mini marshmallows (or marshmallow shapes), butterscotch pieces, white chocolate pieces, stirring spoons or other fun complementary flavors.
Winter Baby Shower Activity Ideas
1. DIY Baby Food Jar Snow Globes
This is an amazing activity to upcycle glass baby food jars, like our favorites from Beech-Nut.
Supplies Needed:
-Clean baby food jars from Beech-Nut.
-Faux snow
-Miniature items such as bristle trees, reindeer, ornaments, wrapped gifts
-Hot Glue Gun
-Gold or Silver Spray Paint
Directions
- Remove the jar’s label, then use Goo-gone or other adhesive remover to eliminate any excess stickiness.
- Using a hot glue gun, adhere the items you have selected for your snow globe to the interior portion of the baby food jar’s lid.
- Turn the baby food jar upright, then add a pinch or two or faux snow.
- Secure your lid with miniatures in place for a completed baby food jar snow globe.
2. Snowflake Messages
Encourage guests to write notes of encouragement or baby advice on paper snowflake ornaments. Display these hand written ornament notes on branches as a centerpiece or focal piece of decor during the baby shower. These notes from friends and family are an amazing keepsake for the mom to be.
3. Blind Baby Food Tasting
This is a fun activity for baby showers given year-round. To set up your own flavor tasting, choose 3-5 simple baby food flavors such as from Beech-Nut, then remove or cover the jar’s labels. Allow guests to taste each flavor with individual spoons, noting their guesses on printable cards. Offer a prize to the party guest with the most correct answers.
