After making it through a hot Texas summer, there is nothing more enjoyable than dining al fresco poolside at our home with family during cooler weather.
Every Sunday, we get together with grandparents nearby and enjoy dinner and dessert and I am hoping that this becomes a long-standing tradition. While we don’t decorate and put together an elaborate tablescape every Sunday, it certainly is a nice treat when we do, and our kids get to feel “grown-up” for a few moments which they get a kick out of.
I fell in love with these green pumpkins and well, that was the design basis for this Fall tablescape. Our dinner guests were greeted with this handmade “Give Thanks” canvas banner by our friend over at Grey Dot Co. I love how the colors paired perfectly with our table’s design.
To bring in texture and contrast, I layered our green dinner plates with white chargers and seagrass placemats. Layering colors and textures is a great way to create a visually appealing tablescape, regardless of theme.
To bring in a touch of black and white, which works extremely well with green, we added this trending black gingham runner to the table underneath our green and white pumpkins. While I love an elaborate tablescape as much as the next gal, I lean toward simple designs with elements that can be reused after an event. Throughout Fall, simple pumpkins in interesting colors make a great table centerpiece concept, and they can be relocated to mantles or porches for the remainder of Fall afterward.
Serving as a fun place card holder and takeaway, we placed these custom succulents potted in textured white planters by The Succulent Bar at each place setting. Black and white gingham place cards, made complete with each guest’s name written in calligraphy, were gently leaned up against each succulent arrangement. While we specialize in digital printables, I loved the idea of a hand lettered element at this special dinner table.
Nothing is better than snacking on a yummy charcuterie tray, will sipping on one of our favorite Cabernet Savignon’s during dinner preparation. With so many options to choose from when putting a tray together, it is an appetizer that is sure to please everyone at the table. Download the recipe for the Pesto Yogurt Dip we paired with our charcuterie vegetables below.
We hope you are inspired to create your own Fall tablescape. And, we hope you will share your favorite Fall recipes with us either below in the comments or on social media.
