The hallmark of our dessert table’s design was the collection of handmade kites using colorful printed fabrics by Minted, hanging throughout the doorway. We used the same color blocking pattern from the printable collection, but added texture and dimension to the design through the use of complementary fabric patterns.
We chose this layered burlap table skirt for additional texture, and as a solid base neutral for the overall design palette. For a touch of whimsy, we layered this textural petal table runner across the burlap linen base.
Vintage Kite Desserts
Our vintage kite birthday cake was cloud inspired, with a handmade paper kite topper. We set it atop a copper piece, flipped upside down to create an ideal cake pedestal. Mini cupcakes were displayed on a custom 2-tiered cloud serving stand. And to continue with the cloud motif, we displayed gorgeous cloud sugar cookies on a royal blue pedestal stand with personalized signage reading, ”Come fly with Me”.
Personalized Vintage Kite Party Decorations
The vintage kite invitation served as inspiration for the entire party, lending motifs, colors and patterns to utilize in a variety of fashions. Paper party decorations lend themselves to personalization, making them perfect for those small party details that pull an entire theme or concept together. We draped the home’s doors in an over-sized kite themed Happy Birthday banner, pulled from this theme’s printable collection. A keepsake kite print with details about the birthday boy doubled as décor during the party. Following the event, personalized thank you cards added that final personalized touch for party guests.
