Tutti Fruitti is such a great summer theme for kids of all ages, but particularly cute as a “Two-tti Fruitti” party!! We had a blast playing with these colorful designs, fun fruit patterns and making some DIY projects that are easily to replicate. And, we hope you find inspiration in the tutti fruitti birthday party ideas shared below!
DIY Tutti Fruitti Backdrop
The focal point of the tutti fruitti birthday party dessert table was this DIY watermelon backdrop. To recreate it, you will need a 48” square piece of thin plywood, rolls of cerise, white and green tissue festooning, 7” black paper plates and a staple gun. To begin, run the green festooning the length of the board, securing with staples every 5-7 inches. Next, add 2-4 rows of white festooning, again securing with staples. And then, finish to the top of the board with rows of cerise festooning. Next, cut black paper plates in half using scissors, and then with a single staple, adhere to the backdrop as random “watermelon seeds”, again with staples. To either side of the backdrop, we added these giant tissue pineapples for some whimsical fun.
As another fun DIY project, we created this fruit garland to hang in front of the table. To create the exact look, you will need red tissue honeycomb balls, pineapple tissue centerpieces, bright pink honeycomb tissue balls and green card stock. Cut 2 large leaves from the green card stock (any shape is fine) and adhere to the inner portion of each honeycomb ball using double sided tape. Close each honeycomb ball or pineapple using the provided taps and attach to the table linen using straight pins. To balance the color on the dessert table’s backdrop and fruit garland, we opted for this ruffled white table skirt.
Our desserts were simple, yet colorful. To stay on budget, we opted for this 2-tier grocery store cake in yellow and white buttercream frosting that we added paper toppers and décor to. Simple white buttercream cupcakes were dressed up with marzipan fruit and personalized cupcake wrappers. We also offered pineapple sugar cookies sitting atop yellow and green gumballs for color contrast.
Desserts were served on colorful tutti fruitti paper plates alongside emerald green beverage napkins. Pink lemonade was served in a carafe labeled “Tutti Fruitti Punch”.
Capture party photo ops with this fun tutti fruitti cardboard backdrop, whimsical pineapple headbands and a giant watermelon balloon!
Guests each took home either bags full of marzipan fruit in favor bags with personalized labels reading, “You’re one in a Melon!” or candy tubes full of pink shimmer gumballs labeled “Happy Birthday Ella”. We hope you loved our sweet tutti fruitti birthday party ideas!! Don’t miss our “Party Like a Pineapple” party for more fruit theme goodness!!
