Tania’s request for her big 30th bash was to pay homage to the 80’s through rock and roll icons, dress-up gear and overall party design. This was by far one of my favorite events to put together. I hope you enjoy the pictures and that you find inspiration in our modern 80’s birthday party ideas.
80’s Birthday Party Ideas
While Tania’s party was as costume theme, her request was that the overall décor carry a modern and sophisticated vibe. To pull this off, we opted for all white floral centerpiece bases then filled each with solid, neon colored roses. These square centerpieces were placed in a row along the modern white dining table.
80’s Themed Desserts
I definitely had fun designing and sourcing 80’s theme desserts. The focal point of the spread was the amazing 3 tier fondant 80’s birthday cake. Every layer and detail of this cake was exquisite. Tania’s mom was also celebrating a birthday, so a smaller neon splatter cake was displayed in her honor. Bite sized bundt cakes were displayed on 3 tier record cupcake stands created for the occasion. For fun, 80’s theme personalized sugar cookies were displayed, in LP, cassette table and Rubix Cube designs. And finally, a large assortment of microphone cake ball pops in neon colors were displayed in the center of the table.
80’s Cocktail Party Ideas
For less formal events, cocktail spaces are an amazing way to keep the flow of an event more fluid in nature. The outdoor space of the home was lined with modern white cocktail tables and bar height chairs. Each cocktail table was decorated with fun neon colored florals set inside a custom made cassette tape vase. These vases were by far one of my favorite finds for her celebration.
I loved creating and sourcing fun details to celebrate Tania’s milestone birthday! And, how fun are the party guests in their costumes?! Browse our selection of 80’s party invitations and 80’s party printables for your upcoming celebration!

How do you light the vases? Is it with LED units?
Thanks
