Are you on team Pecan Pie or Pumpkin Pie for Thanksgiving??
We are most definitely a house divided, with some of us in love with pumpkin pie (the kids, Pap and I) and some of us in love with pecan pie (my husband and Grandma). The pumpkin pie served at our home originated with my dad’s family, while the pecan pie served is a recipe from my mom’s side of the table. So, at our Thanksgiving table, we enjoy both!!
This year, we put together a formal Friendsgiving tablescape concept and opted for these little pecan pie tarts to serve as dessert. I often find that at social gatherings with friends, appetizers and desserts are best enjoyed in bite sized format, allowing guests to enjoy cocktails and mingle versus sitting for a more formal dessert course.
And while these sweet desserts are amazing on their own, I like to display 3-4 bite sized dessert options when hosting a casual dinner get together with friends.
While I am all about amazing food, with 4 littles, I find myself drawn to simple to create recipes for all occasions. Between preparing my tablescapes and the main course, I often find myself in a time crunch for dinner parties. These mini pecan pies are delicious and can be created with a few steps and best of all, can be made ahead of time.
What Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving desserts do you love to serve? Do you opt for full-size desserts, or are you a fan of mini’s? And, do you serve the same desserts annually, or are you a more adventurous cook who loves to try new recipes each and every year?
