Peanut butter & chocolate are a classic flavor combination! So, we thought these Hershey’s© peanut butter and chocolate cookies would be a perfect addition to our cookie exchange party.
As we prepared to host our cookie exchange party, we wanted to ensure that guests were offered a variety of cookies to pack their take home gable boxes with. While each guest was encouraged to bring one homemade goodie for the exchange, as the host I also like to have a few additional options to select from.
Here are a few things to consider when selecting a cookie to bring to an exchange party:
- Is the cookie portable? If you place cookies into a take-home container, will they transport well? For example, freshly iced cookies wouldn’t be an ideal choice as they will stick to one another in a box or tin.
- Is the cookie perishable? When attending a holiday cookie exchange party, choose cookies that will last several days if fresh, or one that will freeze well. While it is always great to take home goodies meant to enjoy today, it is also convenient for party guests to have options to freeze for enjoyment later in the holiday season.
- Will your cookie add variety to the party’s spread? If possible, ask your host/hostess for cookie ideas. And, choose recipes that may not be common, or that offer a bit of a twist to a classic recipe. For example, instead of a classic sugar cookie, consider shortbread or instead of a traditionally baked soft peanut butter cookie, bring this recipe with the added bonus of a mini chocolate bar.
- For an added bonus to party guests, bring small print outs of your cookie’s recipe to share with others.
