I love working on milestone birthday parties! Not only are they a great departure from children’s events, they offer unique design challenges and the opportunity to focus more on large scale design, which I love.
For Nicole’s 35th birthday party, her husband requested that we add sophistication to the restaurant venue, but in keeping with the casual nature of this popular tex-mex venue.
My inspiration began with these fun blue & white Santorini style runners I sourced from one of my local rental venues. Not only does it add color and texture to the table, but it is in keeping with the vibrant colors often found in Mexican style venues. To pull the blue throughout the tablescape, we added floral arrangements in a variety of sizes filled with brightly colored fresh flowers.
For a bit of sophistication, we added these clear chargers with gold beading which worked beautifully with the neutral base linen and the colorful fiesta inspired plates.
The birthday cake was certainly a “wow” decor moment; 3 tiers of amazingly executed fondant topped with a handmade yellow flower and topped with a glitter “35” topper. Anchoring the dessert table were whimsical “big ass balloons” accented with blue ombre paper tassels.
And for that final detail, which in reality was the initial one, we commissioned this chalkboard happy birthday signage which welcomed guests as they arrived for the party.
