Merry Tex-Mas Ya’ll!!
This year, I had wrapped up my holiday shoots but stumbled upon this cactus at Michael’s and well, it spoke to me. So, I had to dress it up for a little bar cart action. I immediately reached out to a colleague to create the colorful pom poms and tassel garlands to adorn this fun modern tree. And, then hunt was on to find additional pieces to complete the look.
One of my favorite concepts for a fiesta or southwestern theme party is to utilize terra cotta planters as serving pieces. Simply flip the base plate upside down and set on top of the upside down terra cotta pot for an amazing cupcake or treat stand. To coordinate with this year’s merry and bright colors, I simply spray painted the base pink, the bottom turned top white and added “Merry Tex-Mas” vinyl across the front. For a holiday twist to cactus cupcakes, I had the decorators add the sweetest little star to the top to mimic Christmas trees. Sometimes the smallest detail can drastically alter the look of a simple item; in this case, the star transforming a cactus cupcake into a holiday cactus cupcake.
For cocktails, I set up a mini margarita station with simple glassware, several tequila options and fun green acrylic cactus stirrers. You could totally have fun with this, offering a variety of mixers, flavored salts and recipes for signature drinks as well!
To add some additional color to the bar cart, I found amazing bright colored wrapping paper to cover varying sizes of square gift boxes. I alternated patterns and stacked 3 neatly to each side of the table. I find that addressing all visual areas of your party space offers the most appeal.
We wish you the happiest of holidays from deep in the heart of Texas!
