If you love to sing and dance, and sing and dance, then a Trolls birthday party is right up your alley (or your child’s). Since my kids are in love with this movie, it was fun to pull imagery and concepts from the film for this Trolls theme birthday party.
The backdrop for our dessert table was a simple DIY project using yellow corrugated paper. To recreate something similar to the sun design shown in the photos, begin by unrolling a 6-7’ section of the yellow corrugated paper on the floor and trim using a straight cut. Next, fold the trimmed paper in half, white portion of the roll facing up. Trace a semi-circle shape to resemble a sun from one side of the paper to the other. And finally, using scissors, cut along your pencil line so that when you open up the folded paper, you have a sun shape that is even on both sides. To add the lines around the sun, cut rectangular pieces of the same size and attach to your wall or backdrop area using strong double sided packing tape.
For personalization, we added a bright pink “Happy Birthday” banner to our sun backdrop and then for color and to pull in the rainbow icon, we added this pink rainbow mylar balloon. And since the Trolls love to sing, we added a few musical notes to the backdrop to pull in that element.
To pull in the bright floral images found throughout the movie, we covered the top portion of a white tablecloth with green floral sheeting and then added these large daisy standees in front of our table.
For pops of color and to break up the green floral sheeting used on the table, we added retro floral cutouts under our serving pieces.
For dessert, guests were offered their choice of a simple buttercream cake with Troll toy toppers or colorful Troll hair cupcakes in bright pink personalized cupcake wrappers. Desserts were served on Trolls paper plates along with Trolls luncheon napkins. Beverages were served in Trolls theme paper cups.
Since the birthday girl was in love with the Rainbow Glitter Sparkles character in the Trolls movie, we couldn’t resist this rainbow wig for fun! She loved playing dress up and it’s a fun party prop that lasts beyond the big day; perfect for a child’s dress up closet.
As a fun favor snack to take home, we wrapped up “Troll Hair” aka cotton candy in personalized favor bags.
We hope you had a Troll-tastic time looking through our party images and that you found some inspiration for your next party!
