Keep reading for our bargain finds and some pro tips for setting a Thanksgiving table on a budget.
I always love shopping at my local 99! I never know what amazing deals and unique finds I may stumble upon when I do the 99. And this year’s Thanksgiving table décor shopping trip was no exception. Take a look at the goodies that I sourced for this year’s designs during my recent shopping trip!
I was able to purchase neutral dinner plates, gorgeous brown charger plates, a variety of pumpkins, glassware, salt & pepper shakers, bows for each chair back and floral vessels for under $50 at the 99! I mean….where else would I be able to purchase these gorgeous pieces at this price point!? Now, let’s take a closer look how we styled these 99 deals and a few tips for how you can replicate this look in your own home.
4 Tips for Creating a Thanksgiving Table on a Budget
-
Choose a Neutral Color Palette
Neutral colors are classic for a Fall tablescape. When selecting items for a Thanksgiving table on a budget, search the 99’s shelves for basic neutrals; plates, linens, chargers and accessories. Our biggest “find” from the 99 were these amazing neutral dinner plates. They were the jumping off point for the rest of our table’s décor. To complement the neutral base colors of the linens and place settings, we added some matte greens and browns for visual interest and depth. One of the ways we accomplished this look was through our simple DIY painted pumpkin centerpiece design.
DIY Painted Pumpkin Centerpiece
Supplies Needed
- Craft Pumpkins from the 99
- Acrylic Paints in Complementary Colors (i.e. we used ivory and 2 shades of neutral green)
- Foam Paint Brushes
Directions
- Using a foam paint brush, coat each craft pumpkin in your selected color of acrylic paint. Set it aside to dry.
- Repeat coats as needed until you achieve full coverage. Keep in mind that lighter colors may require multiple paint coats.
- Gather the painted pumpkins together in a bowl, wooden display piece or basket to create a simple, yet streamlined centerpiece design.
2. Create Visual Interest Through Layering
One of the biggest things you can do to elevate a tablescape is to add layers. For example, each of our place settings incorporated a charger plate, a dinner plate, and a pumpkin accessory that doubled as a place card holder. Layering colors, textures, patterns and materials works to create visual interest for any tablescape design. Some additional layering components to consider could include glassware, guest favors, and napkins.
3. Add Personalized Details
Two of the best ways to bring in personalized details to a tablescape are menu cards or placecards. For our Thanksgiving table on a budget, we added these simple printable gingham placecards for each guest. And, these amazing pumpkins we sourced at the 99 for placecard holders, gently leaning each card up against them.
4. Incorporate Freshness Through Florals
Fresh flowers bring that extra “something” to any tablescape, but they aren’t often in budget. When we stumbled upon these jar containers at the 99, we knew they were perfect for small florals at either end of our DIY painted pumpkin centerpiece. Budget friendly flowers to consider incorporating into small arrangements on your Fall tablescape include hydrangeas, single rose buds, carnations, baby’s breath and bulk greenery.
We hope our tips for pulling together an elevated, yet budget friendly Thanksgiving or Fall tablescape inspired you. As you can see, there are amazing finds to be had when shopping at the 99. Your favorite name brands are available at prices that cannot be beat. So, as you plan this year’s holiday decor, be sure to set aside a shopping trip to the 99.
