RAWR!!!! Jurassic Park was an epic movie, bringing an entirely new idea to life about the world of dinosaurs. I cannot wait to see the new movie release from this iconic franchise, Jurassic World and all of the fun new ideas and dinosaur species. Birthday party themes are often born from popular movies, characters and images, so we will most definitely see a boom this summer and fall of Jurassic World birthday parties. To help you prepare, we have put together a fun take on this movie, with simple to replicate décor and party activities at home. We hope you find inspiration in our dinosaur party ideas shared below.
Jurassic World Party Decorations
To create a fun, whimsical dinosaur party, we started by creating a vine backdrop using alternating light green, white and black twisted tissue garland strands. We suspended these strands from a long piece of thin PVC pipe. But, you could achieve a similar look using a stick from your yard and suspending it between trees. For an indoor party, begin by attaching the tissue garland strands to a sturdy piece of twine or rope. Then, suspend the rope behind your dessert table using adhesive hooks or a staple gun to the wall. The highlight of our dessert table were these fun dinosaur standees, which we sat to either side of our dessert table. These Trex and Velociraptor standees were not only great décor elements, but fun photo props during the party. Our desserts were displayed on a variety of pedestal stands, mixing colors and materials for added décor dimension.
Jurassic World Dessert & Snack Ideas
We are excited to share a few simple, yet fun theme dessert and snack ideas for your upcoming Jurassic World party. For a fun, affordable birthday cake add a plastic toy dinosaur to the top of a store bought buttercream cake with grass frosting accents across the top and the base. We added personalized dinosaur dinosaur cupcake wrappers to chocolate buttercream cupcakes decorated to resemble a ‘nest’, then added candy eggs as a fun little detail.
Individual snack bags labeled Dinosaur Bones were filled with yogurt covered pretzels. Then for an additional treat option, we baked store bought sugar cookies; then used a toy dinosaur’s foot to create footprints once they were baked. These dinosaur footprint cookies were displayed in brown sugar to resemble ‘dirt’ or ‘sand’. We served our desserts on colorful Jurassic World paper plates. Simple dinosaur party ideas like these are not only fun theme relevant ideas, but simple to recreate at home.
Dinosaur Party Ideas- Activities
We are sharing some Dino-mite party activity ideas for the Jurassic World theme!!
To keep guests entertained during your child’s birthday party, select a handful of activity ideas. Set each activity up at a station for guests to work through during the celebration. Here are some of our favorite ideas:
- Tattoo Station- This station can be self-serve, or managed by a designated party guest depending upon the children’s ages. For this activity, all you will need is a stack of Jurassic World tattoos, a sponge or roll of paper towels, and a large cup of water.
- Pinata- Fill a Jurassic World pinata full of goodies, hang from a nearby tree and let the kids have fun trying to get them out. Filler options could include bulk candy, dinosaur toys, plastic Jurassic World bracelets, dinosaur stickers or even dinosaur tattoos.
- Dinosaur Dig- Fill a container with playground sand, plastic dinosaurs, filled dinosaur eggs
and fun magnifying glasses and let the party guests dig for treasures. - Dinosaur Costume- Have an adult put on an inflatable dinosaur costume to to make a surprise appearance during the party; the experience will be a blast for everyone involved.
Other fun items to keep guests entertained, could include Jurassic World party blowers and/or pith exploration helmets set out on the dessert table for silly fun. Each of our party guests received a fun dinosaur bone excavation activity as a party favor. We placed each one in fun personalized bags with labels reading “Thanks for Roaring By”.
We hope you found some dino-mite dinosaur party ideas for your next celebration!
