Is anyone else an avid reader!?! I LOVE books, and reading and sharing some of my favorites and some new finds with friends is the perfect reason for gathering throughout the year. Today, we are sharing 3 simple steps to help you host a successful book club, including our simple yet stunning coffee bar featuring my NEW Keurig® K-Duo Plus™ Single Serve & Carafe Coffee Maker. It is my go-to appliance when hosting friends at home, as I can cater to anyone’s specific coffee preference with the touch of a button. I can brew a carafe prior to my guests arriving for easy & immediate serving, and individual cups for guests who prefer different flavor options, or even decaf. For a full house or a full mug – brew the perfect amount for every moment. Keep reading for more hosting tips for your next book club.
1. Assign Book Titles, Locations & Dates
What titles or topics will you discuss at book club? Fiction, non-fiction, historical biographies, serious or fun topics, easy reads, or a mix? Discuss and select a series of topics with your book club participants before sitting down to choose titles. While some hosts will have a few titles in mind, others may need a bit of direction. Librarians, local book store clerks and top lists available online are all great guides for title options. Each host/hostess will select a day and time within a given month to host, and a book title for everyone to enjoy. Once you cross reference the titles to make sure that there aren’t duplicates, you are ready to schedule. Communicate your schedule (dates, times, locations) to the group, and you are ready to read!
2. Set up the Perfect Coffee Bar
For daytime book club gatherings, coffee bars are a must have! I love kicking off my morning with a great read, amazing conversation with friends, and the perfect cup of coffee. Set up a well thought out coffee station to greet guests upon arrival.
First, brew a full carafe prior to guests arriving for easy serving using your K-Duo Plus™ coffee maker. The 12-cup thermal carafe will keep coffee warm for up to 2 hours. I typically brew a medium roast in my carafe, then provide a number of individual K-Cup options for guests to select from.
At a minimum, offer a light, medium and dark roast option. In the event of a guest preferring non-caffeinated beverages, I also like to offer decaf K-Cup® pods. My favorite thing about the new K-Duo Plus™ coffee maker, is that I can use both ground coffee and K-Cup® pods, serving all of my guest’s preferences with a single appliance. Guests can simply insert any K-Cup® pod or ground coffee and use the button controls to brew a delicious cup and carafe.
