Our summertime is filled with frequent dips in the pool and backyard BBQ’s, often with neighbors, family and friends. Isn’t life better when we get together? To make summertime entertaining easy, we use Chinet® Classic White™ plates for serving our favorite backyard dishes. Keep reading for everything you need to host a backyard BBQ.
Selecting the Menu
Whenever selecting menu items to serve at a backyard BBQ, I often opt for make-ahead items that allow me to spend more time with my guests. For starters, offer a variety of choices for guests to build their own burgers. We offered up a burger fixins bar, displayed in individual glass containers with Chinet® Cut Crystal® cutlery, so that guests could add their favorite toppings to our delicious base with ease.
Here are some burger fixins to consider offering to guests at your backyard BBQ:
· BBQ Sauce
· Sliced Onions (red and white)
· Sliced Tomatoes
· Lettuce; large leafs and shredded
· Cheese Slices (if not serving cheeseburgers)
A meal is only as good as the sides you choose to go with your main course, so choose some fun ones! For hamburger side dishes, I love serving homemade coleslaw, potato salad, baked beans in the crock pot, and fruit salad or fresh fruit slices such as watermelon. My coleslaw recipe is rough cut, using cabbage and carrots and then I add a large splash of black pepper which makes it stand apart from typical coleslaw recipes. My BBQ beans recipe incorporates spices and fresh peaches. And, my go-to potato salad highlights bacon; who doesn’t love bacon?! Each of these dishes enables me to prep at my convenience during the day, and then they’re simply ready to serve once the burgers are grilled. As I finish a dish, I simply seal the container or cover in plastic wrap and set in the fridge for later.
Setting the Table
I am all about pairing beautiful design with ease when entertaining. When setting your backyard BBQ table, choose a fresh centerpiece to bring in color and vibrancy to your table. I filled mason jars with fresh, loose flowers for an organic vibe, but you could fill any container you have on hand with fresh florals in whites, yellows or reds to create a similar appearance.
I opted for disposable, eco-friendly, and compostable Chinet Classic White All Occasion plates. For everything else, I decided to keep things simple with charger plates, flatware and Chinet Cut Crystal cups. I LOVE that Chinet Classic White products not only look great and are durable, but I can simply toss them at the end of the evening for a simple clean up.
