Ella’s country fair 2nd birthday party was sweet, sassy and a little bit country. Our goal when putting together this party’s design plan was a few fold; filling up the large venue without breaking the bank, incorporating personalized elements throughout the decor, providing age appropriate activities for the guests and including a few sweet unexpected elements.
Clay’s Restaurant lends itself to this party theme….country BBQ fare, wooden western backdrops, rustic decor elements and pony rides! To accomplish our first goal of filling up the space, we utilized burlap, floor-length linens for all of the dining tables topped with inexpensive blue gingham table runners. In partnership with the country fair theme, we encouraged Ella’s mommy to pick up an assortment of centerpiece bases to fill with rustic flowers for the event; bottles, cans, jugs etc.
We dressed up the birthday girl’s wooden highchair with a custom fabric garland and a 36″ balloon and tassle.
For the main sweets table, we worked with the amazing barrel table provided by the venue. We had this amazing monogrammed rope art backdrop created to anchor the table, added a cheery yellow gingham fabric runner and draped a fabric garland along the table’s front. To one side of the table were the amazing DIY favors; apple butter for the adults and animal crackers for the kiddos in mason jars with a variety of colorful fabrics added under the tops. The centerpiece of this dessert table was the naked cake created by Ella’s aunt. We added the rustic “2” wooden topper and fresh flowers on scene for added whimsy and small pops of color. Her name was spelled out in front of the cake using small galvanized metal letters. To either side of the cake were these bright red striped cake plates. Whole apples were displayed in a wire basket next to the adorable handmade mini apple pies on a custom tiered wooden stand.
During the party, guests were entertained by pony rides, a can toss game, a rope the horse game, mini wagon hay rides and a bounce house.
I absolutely loved collaborating with this family! All of the DIY touches that both of her parents brought this party to life!!
