I fell in love with the farmhouse look this year, so I definitely wanted to incorporate bits from this design concept into a holiday tablescape. My inspiration for the table décor’s design was drawn from the linens; loving the subtle red and white striped table runner and the black and white check napkins! Whenever putting together a tablescape, I focus on keeping things simple, yet putting emphasis on a few key details. I hope you find inspiration for your farmhouse holiday tablescape in some of our easy to replicate ideas.
It’s All About the Layers
Layering your place settings offers an immediate elevation in the overall look and feel of your décor design, and adds visual interest through texture and colors. We incorporated a rustic wooden round as a “charger” of sorts, anchoring our table setting and pulling together the casual nature of our holiday décor.
We added these amazing red plates for a pop of color, drawing from the stripes in our table runner and the berries found in the centerpiece. These black and white checkered napkins added the perfect color contrast for our plates and paired nicely with our place card design and our wooden centerpiece. When choosing your pieces, look for contrasting textures, coordinating colors and pieces of interest.
Simple Farmhouse Holiday Centerpieces
While I love fresh florals, they can in many cases be cost prohibitive for events. I loved the idea of creating a wooden box specifically for our outdoor table’s dimensions that could be used again and again for a variety of events and purposes. It’s dimensions are 4×36”, making it the ideal size for a rectangular table seating 8-10. For this theme, we filled it with holiday greenery and pine cones. But, you could literally fill it with a variety of items not only for the holidays, but any entertaining occasion.
Add Personalization
Two simple ways to add personalization to your farmhouse holiday dinner tablescape are through menu cards and/or place cards. For our table’s design, we added these simple holiday antler placecards, setting them atop rustic round wreaths.
