During warmer summer months, you can find our family of 6 and oftentimes grandma and papa enjoying casual meals outdoors on the patio. Simple moments with family and friends are truly what I believe summertime is all about. Today, I am sharing 4 simple, summer dinner ideas that we enjoy in hope to inspire you to try something new this summer. Keep scrolling for some photo inspiration and one of my favorite summer salad recipes.
4 Summer Dinner Ideas
One of our family’s go-to dinners during summertime is a burger bar. A variety of topping choices, deliciously grilled burgers and complementary sides make for the perfect one-sized fits all dinner. Offer guests a variety of burger styles, bun types and topping choices. For a meatless burger option, consider our favorite, Pure Farmland Simply Seasoned Plant-Based Protein Starters. Form the protein starter into patties, and grill as directed for a delicious alternative to a traditional burger bar.
Some of my favorite topping choices to include are:
- Red Gold® Folds of Honor Ketchup
- Barbeque Sauce
- Sliced Onions
- Sliced Tomato
- Cheese Slices
- Avocado Spread
Red Gold Tomatoes are American Owned, Grown and Made. A portion of each Red Gold® Folds of Honor Ketchup purchase goes to support educational scholarships that provide support to families of fallen and disabled American heroes. Sophisticated Fare- Meatball Tomato Salad
Not all summertime fare involves burger bars and barbeque spreads! I know in my house, all of us love to try new recipes, and among our summer dinner ideas is a fresh salad. This meatball salad, featuring Pure Farmland Homestyle Plant-Based Meatballs, is a favorite Meatless Monday favorite of ours. Pure Farmland believes that good things are grown from the ground up. They have made a commitment to support community gardens throughout the country, protecting where America’s food is grown through their Pure Growth Project. And, with every Pure Farmland purchase, one square foot of farmland is protected.
- Pure Farmland Homestyle Plant-Based Meatballs
- 4c Mixed Spring Greens
- Heirloom Tomatoes, sliced
- ¼c Greek Yogurt
- 1 tbsp Chives, chopped
- 1 tsp Lemon Zest
- 2 Tbsp Lemon Juice
- 3 Tbsp Oil
- Cook the Pure Farmland Homestyle Plant-Based Meatballs as Directed.
- Whisk together the lemon juice, 3 TBSP of oil, ½ tsp salt and ½ tsp pepper in a small bowl. In a separate bowl, combine yogurt, 1 tbsp water, chives and lemon zest.
- Add a handful of meatballs atop your mixed spring greens on a plate.
- Drizzle your yogurt mixture to finish.
Ice Cream Sundae Bar
What better way to end a summertime meal than with ice cream? My family LOVES ice cream of all flavor, but they especially love when I elevate ice cream time with a topping bar. Set out a variety of ice cream base flavors, chopped nuts, assorted toppings, whipped cream and maraschino cherries for a truly memorable summer dessert experience.
To make ice cream time even more fun, I get out my BOWLZ ice cream bowls. They are double walled, vacuum sealed and made with ForeverBond® creating the ultimate, insulated ice cream bowl. With BOWLZ, cold stays cold. Join our #icecreamparty and grab a special discount offer for your own set by visiting http://www.getbowlz.com/secret-offer.
In my family, sweet treats are everything! Every Sunday, grandma brings over something special for our family dinners, and everyone is in heaven. However, I always set out several sweet treat options, including fresh fruit for our family members or guests to enjoy. After all, not everyone has the same palette.
One of my favorite sweet treat options to stock my pantry with is a SMASHCRISPY DIPPED by Smashmallow. These crispy rice treats are made with natural, non-GMO ingredients and are made in a facility free of 8 of the big allergens. Visit smashmallow.com/Kroger to learn more and stay tuned for more availability!
We hope some of our summer dinner ideas inspire you to create something new!
